Patriotism is very important to each of the members of our chapter.  We openly look for opportunities that enable us to thank our veterans and support our active military.  We participate in Memorial and Veterans Day events, volunteer at the local VA hospital, and participate in the mayor's 4th of July parade.

Mary Chilton members have supported the annual "Valentines for Veterans", a free concert for veterans and their families.  We participate in the Veterans Stand Down; a program at the local VFW which supports the needs of our local homeless veterans by providing free flu shots, information, warm clothing, and personal care items.  Throughout our history, we have consistently supported our veterans and veteran activities.

Active soldiers are also supported by Mary Chilton members.  We attend deployment ceremonies for area Army and Air National Guard units.  We send care packages, cards, coupons and magazines to troops serving overseas.  In addition, we support the families of these local soldiers in a variety of ways.  We award ROTC scholarships and utilize local ROTC for the color guard at some of our chapter ceremonies.

A very rewarding way of demonstrating our love of patriotism is by participating in our local and state naturalization ceremonies.  We have the honor of bearing witness as the applicants take the oath of allegiance and utter their first words as Americans.  There is no greater honor than being able to welcome these new citizens.
